Some random samplings.
1) Fandom is an odd thing. Even odder if the fantasy genre is your true love. Even so, when you are approached to do a photo opportunity with one of your heroes maybe not appearing in leather speedos is the way to go. Check out those extra special tattoos that adorn his thighs. Then again he does look rather pleased with himself.
2) Whilst making this video on the Calabar Festival, I have been popping out for fag break ands reading bits on the BBC website. I read the Eoghan Quinn interview, for those of you who have a life that’s the weird one from x factor. The quote about his new single had me in stitches. “The new single, 28,000 friends, is "basically about a guy who's got a girlfriend who's on all these sites like MSN and My Space and stuff like that, and she's got 28,000 friends and he's just saying, 'turn it off and come out with me and spend time with me'. Move over Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Coldplay. Finally we have a song that resonates with the youth. Seriously who is in that situation? Who even has 28,000 friends? Unless your girl is slutting it up in the pictures there isn’t anyone that has that many friends. Mr Quigg, I’m sorry to say maybe you aren’t man enough to hold her attention.
3) The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are quietly becoming a dependable band. Their work to date is varied without being pretentious and always remains fun. The latest album is intriguing, the lead single Heads Will Roll is currently the top rock single of the year alongside The Macabees and Jack Penate.
