I created this blog to post my random thoughts instead of polluting the other one which was one for my friends. So here goes.
So earlier this afternoon I went to go and see my madre at the airport. Now I love sitting down and watching other people arrive at the airport and have reunions. There is a scene in dogma where this same sentiment is expressed. At least I know that I’m not a psycho. Anyway at terminal four the mixture of people there was funny since it consisted of old English types, Asian families and Nigerians. So after about a ten minute wait with a small smattering of people coming through a portly English woman came through the doors. A shriek came from behind me and her daughter rushed towards her. Mass hugging and extra whoops of joy was followed by an even louder scream came when the next person came through the doors. I couldn’t help but chuckle when the guy that came through was sporting a handlebar moustache that Edwardian magicians would be proud of. I couldn’t help but wonder whether he was a magician or maybe just a owner of a adult book store. Never has any piece of facial hair offered some many possibilities. For the record soul patch = douchebag , beard = paedophile, big beard = scientist, Pharrell tache = copycat and sideburns is just sad. Also the goatee is just pathetic. Stubble is classy and I can’t grow any facial hair thus why im slightly envious. Bond never really had a beard and why should we? (P.S I am taking fashion cues from a fictional spy but who cares)
Back to the airport thing, the next family that came through where rushed even more fervently than the last. The strange thing is that the family immediately stopped the whooping and delightful banter as soon as they realised where they where. Now I was thinking does that mean that I get to see whether every single person afterwards would have to try and trump the last just so that they could seem normal. Had I just discovered a new social requirement that people had somehow forced upon themselves. Or had the surrounding area forced people to act in a way that they normally wouldn’t? Sure we all have to adapt to our surrounding but how much do we allow ourselves to be contaminated by our proximity. We do it all the time, unwittingly most of the time, but I guess it is just an evolutionary tick that we don’t often think about.
