Lock and Key

I just got a copy of the new Hip Hop Mandate. It reads:

“If in need of a hit break out the M.I.A sample”

This is the fourth example, I’m not counting all 900 freestyles over Paper Planes, of this working. London’s Tinie Tempah samples Arular era M.I.A to create this good track I’m Hot. His mixtape also samples Sexy Beast, the underrated British Gangster flick starring Lovejoy and “Health cereal spokesman” Ray Winestone. I think all UK rappers should sample Brit gangster flicks since that’s the only sort of film that we make that isn’t set in Victorian England.
