MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker (Video)

MSTRKRFT – Featuring John Legend from vincent haycock on Vimeo.

One of the biggest disappointments of the year was the MSTRKRFT album. After really enjoying the first one with its French house touches, the second one was all Frat-house (read: simplistic) electro party. That unrelenting banging, 100 miles an hour sound. The sound described in the Justice DVD as the new punk rock. I don’t enjoy it, I love Proxy but I can’t stand the others, especially with the proliferation of them on Hype Machine.

Anyway, after MSTRKRFT produced an alluring remix of Green Light (their manipulation of the piano keys was better than the whole original), John Legend returns the favour by singing on Heartbreaker. Unlike the other songs on the album (the Lil Mo ones being the worst) this manages to balance the two worlds of R and B and Electro.

This video reminds me that I need to buy a pinanta.

Runaway

Here is a post clearing up all the small ideas that have been kicking around this week.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs album = Good.

Royksopp Album = Good.

MF Doom Album= Ok.

Chromatics album = Very Good (Thanks Adam)

Mstrkrft Album = Worst thing I have heard this year.

Ash Roth and Wale Singles very good.

Best text I got sent this week:

“I’m sitting on a bench next to Brett from Flight of the Concords. He is talking to man whilst eating a Panini.”

Only to find out that was actually the day of his wedding.

Twitter is annoying. I don’t know why I bother. Although I did unwittingly break ground this past week with one of my posts. Either way give me back my old facebook.

Villain

From Fact Magazine
"So yeah, if their quality is any indication… Well, we could be looking at the best thing Doom’s lent his name to in five years, and a worthy addition to the holy trinity of Madvillainy, Take Me To Your Leader and Vaudeville Villain. And yeah, we know we should include Operation Doomsday in that, but then we’d have to look up the word for a trilogy of four. "

So along with the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs record with have brand new excellent MF DOOM to look forward to.
Here is a list of Ldnnez approved acts with stuff coming out this year. Jadakiss, MSTRKRFT, Black Lips, Royksopp, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix.
And potential releases D'Angelo, Gang of Four, The Gossip (curiosity and it's produced by Rick Rubin, Kid Sister, Prince, The Rakes and Patrick Wolf.
